Weater Forecast - RadarWatch - CO2 Optimizer

Weather Forecast
The Weather Forecast module enables you to automatically manipulate MultiMa climate control based on forecast data. The weather forecast is used to predict the energy requirements and respond quickly to expected weather conditions.

A 5-day forecast is retrieved every 6 hours. The hourly weather conditions are shown in detail in tables and graphs.

RadarWatch

The RadarWatch software calculates a rain index for every 5-minute period over the next 25 minutes. The rain index indicates the probability of rain and how heavy it will be in each of the 5-minute periods. As soon as the rain index exceeds a certain value, the computer can adjust the vents to a safe position, for instance, before it starts to rain.

Radarwatch was developed in assocation with Weeronline, a online weather service for the Netherlands, and uses the rainfall rader of the Dutch MET office. The propability of rain and its intensity are forecast for an area of 2.5 by 2.5km over the next 25 minutes. Radarwatch is currently only available in the Netherlands. For more information, please click on RadarWatch.

CO2 Optimizer
The CO2 Optimizer software calculates the economic optimum level of CO2 enrichment at any point during the day. HortiMaX developed this control software for the MultiMa climate computer in co-operation with Wageningen University (PRI). CO2 enrichment is one of the main methods used to stimulate growth in commercial glasshouses. CO2 is generally a free by-product from burning natural gas to generate heat, but using other CO2 sources may involve costs.

Maximizing the return from CO2 enrichment depends on accurately weighing the costs of additional CO2 enrichment against the additional profits of increased production. The results of the CO2 Optimizer are sent to the MultiMa climate computer, so it can determine what adjustments need to be made.
