AMS-TIS

At the invitation of Horticoop and HortiMaX, a select  group of growers of large-flowered cymbidiums attended a demonstration of AMS-TIS at the Vlitro nursery in the Netherlands on 28 September 2005. This enabled them to see in practice how AMS-TIS supports the day-to-day management of nurseries.

A similar session will be organized for growers of small-flowered cymbidiums next spring. Since the growers who attended the demonstration all grew the same type of crop, they were able to form a good impression of the benefits of AMS-TIS.

It also enabled them to discuss crop specific issues based on how Mr Van Vliet dealt with them at his company.

Willem Van Vliet (Vlitro) kindly put his greenhouse at our disposal to demonstrate the AMS-TIS system. Mr Van Vliet himself has been using AMS-TIS for 2 years now. AMS-TIS is one of the two labour and production registration systems which HortiMax supplies. In addition to AMS-TIS, which is used throughout the ornamental sector, P-Plus also has many enthusiastic users in the vegetable growing industry.

Mr Van Vliet started using the AMS-TIS registration system to gain better insight into the costs of daily production. He was especially interested in determining the cost price of each crop variety and analyzing which varieties are productive and which are not. Based on this data, he aims to select the most suitable varieties to grow.

As a producer of management software for the horticultural industry, HortiMaX decided to join forces with dealer Horticoop (supplier and installer of horticultural products) to organize this practical demonstration. Partly by learning about the practical experiences of another grower cultivating the same type of crop, one is given a much better impression of the system than during a regular demonstration.
